Does pretty darn good between the tee shot and the iron shots! Is a great middle fairway club! Works for keeping shots low if you want them low. Awesome for under trees or in the rough. Have discovered if swinging too hard, put the metal to it, it will slice with too much energy into it. Size makes it too easy to hit off of the toe. I rarely ever use my 3 or 5 wood anymore, so took them out of my bag! My Maverick is a 4. Can also go a good distance on the fairway, easily going 200 yards plus! Also a handy club for punching out under trees and landscaping dividing fairways. Just have to hit the ball square, in the sweet spot, or may slice or draw. It’s not always forgiving
